Michigan Catastrophic Claims Assessment Increase

Effective July 1, 2018 the MCCA Assessment will be increasing from $170  to $192 per insured vehicle. You may be wondering what is the MCCA?

The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) is a private non-profit unincorporated association, created by state Legislature in 1978. In the state of Michigan the no-fault law allows for unlimited lifetime coverage on medical expenses resulting from auto accidents. An individuals insurance company will pay the entire medical portion of the auto loss but will be reimbursed for anything over $555,000.

Catastrophic claims involve injuries to the following: brain, and/or spinal cord which result in serious and permanent disability.

From 7/1/1978-6/30/2017 there were 37,364 reported claims, of those 16,510 were still open cases with total payments made being $15,327,947,129.
